People's United Creates Fund to Benefit Families of Fallen Bridgeport Firefighters; Initiates Fund With
$7,500 Contribution
Bridgeport, CT - People’s United Bank has established a fund to benefit the families of Bridgeport
firefighters Steven Velasquez and Michel Baik, who died last week in the line of duty. The bank will accept
cash or check contributions at its Bridgeport branches and will accept check donations through the mail.
People’s United Bank initiated the fund with a $7,500 contribution.
Those wishing to contribute to the fund may do so in person at any of the following People’s United Bank

“Though many of us did not know these two brave men personally, they died protecting the lives and property of
people in our home city,” said Robert D’Amore, Senior Executive Vice President, Retail and Small Business
Banking. “Though contributions will not bring back these valiant men, they may help defer educational costs
and other needs of the families they leave behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with these families, with
the Bridgeport Fire Department and with all state residents who mourn this tragic loss.”
